Theresa Hoang is the Founder of Women’s Crypto Playground, a content, events and educational platform to empower everyone that identifies with being female in the crypto economy. Her interest in the idea behind bitcoin started years ago, after attending a talk with her brother-in-law who is an engineer. While traveling, she noticed the crypto community was much more active overseas than in the US. She began reading everything she could get her hands on and started to actively once she got back to the US. She was blown away by the potential of blockchain technology and the community way beyond Bitcoin.
We asked Theresa to tell us the Tribute community a bit more about her, and why she got into the crypto economy.
How old are you?
I turned 30 y/o this year
Where were you raised?
I was raised in the Bay Area, CA
What you want to be known for?
I want to be known for making a positive difference in the world in my own way.
What made you decide to start your venture? Tell us about YOUR WHY.
I was at a point where I was beyond tired of the societal bs and felt a lot of anger at the state of the world. I needed to find a way to channel into something positive and WCP is it.
Did you leave a cozy Corporate job? Or start a side hustle?
Both. I left a corporate job because I wanted to feel like my life had meaning but I had no idea where to start. I traveled Europe and Southeast Asia for around 4 months and had to quickly learn how to make money. That’s when I fell into the world of online businesses and remote work where I learned important skills and how to self-motivate.
What inspires you to keep going when the going gets tough?
And finally, we asked Theresa to answer these three questions.
My favorite self-care routine is…
Head to toe pamper day!
The last book I read was ….
Skin in the Game by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
My best advice to fellow female founder is…
Learn to enjoy being outside your comfort zone
